Monday morning, March 15, 2010, a 12-year old female was standing at her bus stop around 7:00 a.m. at the 5100 Block of Post Rd. when an unknown Hispanic male driver of a green SUV or truck pulled up next to her and offered her a ride. The brother of the 12-year old female arrived at the bus stop and the vehicle drove away. We have no other information at this time. We are asking parents to alert their children about this vehicle and be cautious of their surroundings. Please report any vehicle they see that matches this description.

At 3:10 a.m. January 14, 2010, Fishers Police were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the 24 hour Shell gas station located at the intersection of 96th Street and Allisonville Road. The first officer on the scene arrived within one minute of the call and met with the store clerk. The adult male clerk said that shortly after 3:00 a.m. a slender black male approximately 5’ 8” tall, entered the store and immediately stated “This is a robbery!” while holding a gun partially inside his jacket pocket. The clerk further described the suspect as wearing dark sweatpants, a dark hooded sweat jacket, with dark fabric covering his face.

The clerk began to comply by retrieving cash from the register when a scheduled fuel delivery driver entered the store and interrupted the robbery. The suspect then pointed the dark colored handgun at the delivery driver and ordered him to walk around behind the front counter beside the clerk. The driver complied while the clerk finished retrieving cash from the register and laid it on the counter top. The clerk told officers the suspect then quickly grabbed the undetermined amount of cash and then ran out of the building disappearing around the corner. The clerk then immediately called 911 to report the crime.

A police perimeter was immediately set up and an attempt to track the suspect by K-9 was unsuccessful. Fishers detectives and evidence technicians were called to the scene and are currently processing and working the case. They are asking anyone with any knowledge or information about the case to call Dispatch at (317) 773-1282. Information can also be given through our webpage at www.fishers.in.us/police or anonymously by calling our Tip Line at (317) 595-3305.

Hey Tom~ I checked out the LPD link below and the number that is listed as 549-6414 is the detective's line. You might want to change it to the 'crime watch' number of 549-6404.

if the lawrence police don't want you to call 549-6414, they need to change their website. http://www.cityoflawrence.org/Pages/lpd.aspx

I love it when we are asked to be vigilant when it comes to suspicious activity around our neighborhoods. I just experienced an encounter with some seedy characters looking to clean carpets. They had no uniform or badges, and no signage on their vehicle. Our neighborhood crime watch has instructed us to call the non-emergency line at LPD. BTW...the Lawrence Police Dept. phone number listed above actually belongs to a detective, and she was quite pee'd that I was even calling. When given the correct number to call, I was put on hold for at least 5 minutes. While waiting on hold, I just figured they would not do anything about it anyways, and hung up. Our finest. Just hope no one's home gets violated.

I have Sentinal Alarm. They're local, personal, professional, and cheap.

Does anyone use a home security company that they highly recommend and is reasonably priced?

It's imperative that any homeowner that sees any suspicious activity around their home or neighborhood call the police immediately.

Fishers Police Chief George Kehl has announced Trick-or-Treat hours for Halloween. Trick-or-Treat hours will be on Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Chief Kehl offers the following safety tips for Halloween.

+ Give and accept wrapped or packaged candy only.
+ Only go to houses that you know the owner.
+ Have children bring treats home for adult inspection before they are eaten.
+ A parent or adult should accompany children when they are trick-or-treating.
+ Carry a flashlight.
+ Stay within your neighborhood; only visit homes you know.
+ Use make-up or face paint instead of masks. If masks are used, make sure the child has good visibility.
+ Choose costumes that are flame retardant.
+ Wear light-colored clothing, short enough to prevent tripping. Add reflective tape to dark colored costumes.
+ Watch for vehicle traffic and use caution when crossing the street.

Police cars will be patrolling the neighborhoods to ensure everyone’s safety. If you see or find anything suspicious, please call the Fishers Police Department at 773-1282 or Emergency 911.
