I'm new here. I am finishing up a book and getting ready to start "World Without End" by Ken Follett. I read"The Pillars of the Earth" a couple of years ago and loved it. It is at the top of my favorites list.

I just finished "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. What a well written novel. It was a very different type of story with a twist.

Anyone familiar with a publisher looking for new talent? I'm about 65-70% done with my first book and have been told that it has alot of potential. Only publisher I've been able to talk with is in New York and am looking for someone fairly local. The genre is action/horror/scifi.

Any interest in trading paperbacks? Mine just seem to sit on the shelf and collect dust until I finally dispose of them. Just a thought.

Mystery lovers, you need to hit the Mystery Book Company book store in Carmel and get on Jim, the owner's, e-mail list. He has authors in all the time for signings. He features new games, especially word games. A week or so ago he had about 20 well-known local writers in and the event was well attended.

Just finished reading Michael Connelly's Brass Verdict. A Harry Bosch novel. Extremely well written. Keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. Great read.

Just finished the new political satire by Christopher Buckley : "Supreme Courtship." It's entertaining, thought-provoking, and a fun read.
Agree with Beth's assessment on "The Shack." This is not my normal type of reading, but I greatly enjoyed it. Definitely makes one think.
Just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" -- the followup book to "The Kite Runner." This one focuses on the women. While gut-wrenching in places, it was an excellent book. I highly recommend it.

Beth, I couldn't agree more! I bought and read it twice in two weeks! I love it so much that I loaned my copy out, bought one for my son and another one for me so I can loan it out too. If you have questions about God vs. Religon this will answer them. I just loved it!!! My new personal fave book of all time!!!
