a crew from the Indianapolis sailing club is headed to newport to race to bermuda in june, it would be fun to do a story about the crew and boat owner, Chris Palabrica. Would anyone like to take this story? I'll send along contact info and phone numbers.

Hi, All -- My first book has just been published and is available on Amazon.com (Kindle Edition).

"The Bajan's Granddaughter" is a Caribbean cookbook with stories and memories of growing up in Queens with West Indian grandparents.

For those who do not have a Kindle device, Kindle offers free software that can be downloaded to your PC. Hoping you will find this interesting, please pass it on. All the best, Stacey

anyone want to write a story about the upcoming HSE school referendum? both sides of the debate need to be covered, the proponents have a good facebook page up (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=144540673486) but not finding opponents as well organized.

Hi, Laura
Well, it was editorial/commentary. I wrote about whatever was on my mind. Started out by accident when they needed to fill some inches for a special Christmas Day edition in 2007. I was supposed to pull an AP story, and wrote one myself instead. I wrote about The Yule Log (television broadcast) - an old NYC tradition; wrote about my experiences growing up during the civil rights era, family, etc. A few of my stories that were published are on my blog here.

Also, I don't actually live in Geist, but work in the area. Thank you for responding. Stacey

Thanks Stacey. We welcome any Geist resident who wants to be more active in the community while using your writing talents! Please feel free to email me at Laura@atGeist.com to pitch any stories you would like to write. What type of column did you write in for the Courier-Times?

Good Morning, All
I had not posted here yet because I was not sure if this was a proper forum for me, but I think it is. First of all, I'm caregiver to my mother, and work p/t for a semi-retired attorney and sell real estate with Re/Max Realty Group. However, I took a job two years ago as a proof reader for The Courier-Times (New Castle). Making a long story short, I eventually began to write for them, and they gave me a column. Of course I was not compensated for that, but for the love of it and the opportunity to write (a life-long dream), I jumped at the chance.

I left the paper last month due to the hectic schedule, but I door was left open for me to continue to submit editorials and other pieces. I just wanted a venue to write in. So, this group intrigues me tremendously, and I hope to be an active member in time. Greetings to All, Stacey Torres
