Geist, Carmel, Fishers

Woov, I am shocked that anyone with a permit can carry guns at and around the Geist premises... Watch out people you may get shot....
Here is a question, as residents of this community don't we have any saying over this???

I totally agree with you. They always show up after the fact and that is how it works but remember I am not against having a weapon to protect yourself and keep it there... all I am against and really bothers me bunch of people walking around flashing their guns... that is all.

I guess I don't agree that seeing a gun causes chaos. If that were true, every gun show I've ever attended would have been an absolute madhouse. I believe quite the contrary.... granted, the gun show is a unique situation but it makes a broader point and that is this... in many cases, guns deter crime!

so you are saying that everyone should buy guns....

Our constitution gives everyone that right... at least those that are U.S citizens and are not determined to be mentally ill or convicted of a felony. I'd have no problem with everyone being armed so long as they were properly trained in the use of their firearm.

How do you properly train someone to use a fire arm??? and what happens if they slip??? and what if they are intoxicated??? Just like the boat example that everyone is giving... I am not much of a boater but I see people loading up their boats on sundays and I am pretty sure what is in those giant coolers... Anyways by no means I am questioning the constitution, but it was written long time ago. Just like Bible (I am not questioning that either) It says thou shall not lie and we do, so even if you properly train someone this is a weapon and as long as you are 18 and fit the profile that you are mention above, you can carry a weapon and you are saying that you would feel safer than you are now... Don't make no sense. You are complaining about the people being intoxicated and riding their boats, you are complaining about 18 years old kids not being responsible enough, you are okay to hand the weapons to everyone as long as you are 18 and you are not a clinical case or felonthat fits to profile. Woov... Check out the picture and see... That is a real picture. :))

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that guns don't kill people, people kill people... guns are no more inherently dangerous than baseball bats or kitchen knives. And, if more people were comfortable with them, they'd be less of a danger.

As for training, I just did a Google search on "firearms training, Indianapolis" and over 10 pages options came back.... granted, not all 10 pages are different options, just making the point that training is available. We can't forget that carrying a firearm carries with it a tremendous amount of responsibility just as it does for an officer of the law. And yes, I guess I am saying I'd feel safer if more trained, responsible people carried guns because I'd very likely be one of them.

As a people, that which we don't fully understand tends to scare us....

Just my two cents, but I wouldn't worry about someone who has taken the time, effort, and trouble to register for a carry permit and qualified. My dad is a retired police detective who carries his 45 everywhere. Of all the homicides he was ever called out to in the middle of the night, I can't recall any ever committed by a properly licensed, registered gun owner. He doesn't go anywhere without his weapon, ever. He's put one too many people into the penitentiary to try that. He hasn't shot anyone in the 34 years I've known him, and that included both my brother and me as teenagers. :)
