I'm watching the McCain/Obama debate. In this regard, do you honestly, objectively screen the candidates to determine the very best suited to run the country, or do you vote solely along party lines?
Mostly on party lines from a national election perspective. You hear your party paint the other party in one light and you believe it. They preach to their choir and they believe that. As for the debate, McCain has a hard time staying on topic or even looking at Obama, he doesn't do well in these things.
I am an honest to goodness independent. I have never voted party lines. I honestly vote for the person I think will do the best job. I pay close attention to what is said, and more attention to what isn't.
As for the debate, I was disappointed in both candidates. I wanted to see a "real" debate; not a moderated Q & A session.
I just don't believe Barak Obama is a true american. He was funded by a terrorist that was responsible for blowing up churches, and complains about how McCain has so many houses. Last time I checked Obama pulled in around 4 million dollars last year, from private donors. He claims to be looking out for middle class people, he doesn't even know what it is to be middle class. Has he ever even had a real job.
Best thig we can all do is vote for candidates that are the overall best option, not based on a single topic. By voting on single "fringe" topics I feel we end up with polar extremes for the Presidential race. And we're NOT extremists! We're all Americans and need to start thinking like that. I vote for the candidate that I feel will do the most good for our country. Needless to say, I did not vote for W in the last two elections :-)
I've always voted that way. Regardless of party affiliation, I have voted for the person or team I believed would be the best for the country. This, always after much due diligence on their qualifications to serve. By voting strictly along party lines, by automatically going with your chosen party, you in effect give up your own thinking and let others do your thinking for you. This is the most ineffective way to vote.
